Canadian expat Allan Simpson, inducted into Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame

Congratulations to British Columbia native Allan Simpson, on his induction into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame! The 2011 class also includes former Toronto Blue Jay relief pitcher Tom Henke and posthumous inductee George “Dandy” Wood, born in Pownal, Prince Edward Island. Wood played almost 1,300 games in the major leagues back in the 1800’s, but whose Canadian citizenship was only uncovered a year ago.

Simpson founded the monthly publication Baseball America 30 years ago, commonly referred to as the Bible of the baseball industry. It could be considered the equivalent of an American founding the Hockey News.

The induction ceremonies will be held in St. Mary’s Ont. on Saturday June 18th.

This past summer the Canadian Expat Network did a two part interview with Simpson to share his story. See more below.
